HOW TO APPLY
STEP 1: FOR TEACHERS – How to Nominate an NETC Travel Scholar
Each teacher can submit prospective students for either category. There is no limit
to the number of submissions. Please write a cover letter to the NETC Scholarship
Committee, for each nominated student. Download the Scholarship Application, complete and sign it. Then
forward a copy of your cover letter and application to each nominated student
STEP 2: FOR PROSPECTIVE NETC TRAVEL SCHOLARS – Why Not You?
Each student must submit an Application Letter to the NETC Scholarship Committee
telling why he/she is applying for the scholarship, and what the trip would mean
to him/her if they were to be awarded the scholarship. Please choose only one activity
from below:
Category 1: Visual Art
- Design a poster: (Using the medium of your choice,
create a tourism campaign for one of the cities or countries to which NETC travels.
It should be targeted towards students.
- Shoot a 60-Second Video/DVD Commercial: Design
a tourism promotion for your favorite city or country. Incorporate NETC and the
importance of world travel to high school/middle school students.
Category 2: Writing
- Design a LEAP!™ activity: Using a city that NETC
travels to, design a LEAP! activity. The activity should incorporate local flavor
and be interactive, to follow NETC's approach to experiential learning.
STEP 3: SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY!
Students must send their Scholarship Entry, Application Letter, Completed Scholarship
Application Form, Cover Letter and Recommendation to:

All entries must be received by NETC by October 1, 2008. Winners will be announced
November 15, 2008, and featured on the NETC website for two months.
* NETC Travel Scholars will receive the full amount of their program fee, registration
fee and all optional excursion fees for the program being led in 2009 by the nominating
teacher.
* Group entries are accepted, however, please note, a winning group will be treated
as one individual winner. This means that the group will receive one of the four
available scholarships, and the one scholarship will be evenly divided among the
members of the winning group. If any member of a winning group is unable to travel
on their 2009 tour, his/her portion of the scholarship will be dispersed among the
other members of the winning group that are traveling on their 2009 tour.
* Please do not include any Student Enrollment Applications with your scholarship
entry. Student Enrollment Applications should be sent in a separate envelope to:
